1/72 SUPERMARINE SPITFIRE MK.1
1/72 SUPERMARINE SPITFIRE MK.1
The Supermarine Spitfire is regarded by many as the most esthetically designed single seat fighter to appear during WWII. It was conceived by the brilliant British designer Reginald J. Mitchell, and first flew on 5 March 1936. It was an advanced, low wing single seat monoplane with a very smooth flush riveted metal skin and a long flowing front cowling. Using the famous Rolls-Royce Merlin liquid cooled 12 cylinder engine, the Mk I Spitfire attained a top speed of 586km/h. The Spitfire's combat action in thwarting Germany's attempt to raid the English mainland during the 1940 Battle of Britain, has forever ensured this fighter's pride of place in the minds of England's men and women. Tamiya presents the legendary Spifire Mk.I as the latest inception to the 1/72 Scale War Bird Collection. With ease-of-construction in mind, Tamiya limited the number of tiny pieces involved in the assembly process. Two sets of markings are included in kit.
